Cryonics is the preservation of a deceased person’s body at very low temperatures (below -150 degrees C) with the objective of restoring the person to life at a later date when medical technology has sufficiently advanced. Science is gradually producing treatments to currently lethal diseases, including ageing and it is hoped that in the future these treatments can be applied to people in cryogenic suspension to reanimate them back to life.
On the 3rd February 2023, Southern Cryonics opened a storage operation in rural New South Wales. The first cryonics facility in Australia (and the Southern Hemisphere). They have partnered with a CryoPath, who’s job it is to stabilise and transport the body under the required conditions to get the body safely to the cryonics storage facility. At the time of opening, 44 Australians had booked their cryonics chamber as their preferred alternative to burial or cremation.
