Voluntary Assisted Dying in Queensland

Voluntary Assisted Dying became available for eligible Queenslanders in January 2023. Eligible people can ask for medical support to end their own lives. You must be an adult-resident with decision making abilities, have a condition or disease that is expected to cause death within a year and is considered by you to be intolerable.

The process involves a three step request process, prescription and supply of a voluntary assisted dying substance then taking the substance. More details of the process and contacts for assistance are available in the Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Handbook available here.
